Greetings. Let me tell you something. Sure most of this blog revolves around the Iromir series but it's also a place where I will post advices based on personal experience and "rules" about writing. So, I have heard of so many aspiring writers quitting not because they wanted to but because they were forced. Affected and eventually "killed" by the very ones whom they shought help from. Teachers, family, friends, relatives, colleagues. They had asked them a very simple thing. To support their dreams. Their responses varied from..."You are too young to be an author", "Wake up and come back to reality" "You think on your native tongue and you write in English" "Your writing is awful" "Others studied something similar and you have nothing to show". I can go on indefinitely really but you get my point. Now let me tell you something else. Nobody, and I mean NOBODY. Can tell you what you can and cannot be. If you wake up in the middle of the night thinking of crazy stories or something gnaws on your bones to write or you keep going back to your journal to write because it's the only thing that takes you away from this ugly reality then do it. Finish that story, let the people hear it, let them see you. Stand up against those who belittle you. They are the very ones who had dreams as well like you and they just quit. Their satisfaction will come from making you believe that you also can't do what you want so they can feel better. I don't have to tell you if you are an author or not. You know it! You are! It's in your blood. Publish that book, publish that poem and I know you will ask yourself "So what? This story had been told a milion times before" Indeed it is. But not by you! Because, when you finish that dream you will give to the world something that he never experienced before. Your story, your version, your voice. And through that, your truths and standard and ideals... No matter what it is that you dream of, keep on dreaming and don't stop until you say "I won!" And then, go back and do it all over again for a new idea. Reaching the peak of the mountain is not the point. The journey is. :) It will grow you as a person and humble you in so many ways that you can't possibly imagine. Now go forth and forge those destinies. One smite at a time!
